Former Aberdeen hero Brian Irvine says it's time for the current crop of players to show their passion for the club.
Manager Mark McGee recently criticised his players in the press saying it was time for them to take responsibility for their failings after seeing his side lose at home to both Falkirk and Motherwell and Irvine says he fully agrees with the manager's comments.
Irvine made 306 appearances for the Dons and became a legend at Pittodrie after scoring the winning penalty against Celtic in the 1990 Scottish Cup final.
Irvine told the Aberdeen Evening Express: "Players find it too easy to hide behind managers nowadays.
"Mark is right to speak out in the manner he did because there is little he can do once his players cross that white line on to the pitch. Managers prepare teams for games and pick the team but from the moment the first whistle goes it's all about what the players do."
