Star targets top three

AberdeenNew Dons signing Sone Aluko feels Aberdeen should be targeting third spot in the SPL this season.

The former Birmingham man impressed on loan at Pittodrie last season and sealed a permanent move just before Monday's transfer deadline, joining the Dons from Birmingham City.

Aluko admits Jimmy Calderwood had a big impact on his decision to return to the club and feels Aberdeen should be looking to build on last season's achievements.

Speaking to the Press & Journal, he admitted: "The manager was a massive influence on me coming back. I have a great relationship with him.

"He really looked after me when I came here last season and then he spoke to me a lot through the summer."

Aluko added: "Last season we had some amazing highs, but I think we can do better this year domestically. Third place has to be a goal and we want to get to a final and have the chance to lift a trophy."
