Accrington will be without midfielder Charlie Barnett when they host Southend.

Barnett begins a three-match ban following his red card for a rash challenge on Port Vale left-back Daniel Jones in the early stages of last weekend's 3-0 defeat.

Nicky Hunt has been given the all clear to resume training after suffering concussion against Plymouth a fortnight ago and could come into contention at right-back.

Goals have been hard to come by during Stanley's current slump and Leam Richardson's strugglers have failed to find the net in any of their last four outings.

It is a situation striker Padraig Amond might be unable to remedy despite resuming training following a troublesome groin complaint.

Bury loanee Mark Hughes made his Reds debut last weekend after joining on transfer deadline day and is expect to continue in the heart of defence.
