Accrington captain Luke Joyce believes there are more spectacular strikes to come from Lee Molyneux.

The 24-year-old earned a starting berth for last weekend's goalless draw with Torquay after he came off the bench and netted a pair of spectacular long-range strikes to help sink Rochdale 3-0.

The goals were Molyneux's first in the league and the second and third of his professional career, but Joyce was not surprised having witnessed his team-mate's audacious efforts on a daily basis.

"To be honest, we see it quite a lot in training," he told Press Association Sport. "We know he's got a great left foot and he can strike a ball as well as anyone we've seen.

"He's had a few good efforts this season. He's come really close with a few long-range efforts.

"It didn't really surprise me and after he'd scored the first one we half expected him to score the free-kick straight after.

"They were two fantastic goals, two of the best goals I've seen while being involved in a game."

Stanley head to Northampton this weekend having edged a point clear of the relegation zone and Joyce is pleased to see things looking up at both ends of the pitch following back-to-back clean sheets.

He added: "That's been a massive part of the success over the past couple of games, keeping it tight.

"If you're keeping a clean sheet, no matter how well or how badly you're playing it always gives you a chance of nicking something."
