Arsenal are rivalling Juventus with their interest in 20-year-old Parma striker Ishak Belfodil who looks set to become a summer target.
Belfodil has been scouted by both clubs and rumours are already mounting that Parma will not be able to hold on to the Algerian-born striker beyond the end of the season.
He cost Parma £2.5million from Lyon in the summer and has scored five Serie A goals in nine starts, including a brace in their recent 4-1 win over Catania.
Wenger is on the look-out for a young striker to add to his squad and Belfodil has the pace and ability to fit into the profile of his signings, while he would also come into the right price range.
Parma are hoping to at least double their money on a player who did not fulfil his promise in France where he was given only a handful of first-team opportunities by Lyon.
Wenger has ruled out a January swoop for Manchester United winger Nani, who was recently spotted at Watford's training ground just across the road from the Gunners' Colney base.
The Portuguese star has been troubled by injuries lately and is on holiday in Dubai - further postponing talks over renewing his Old Trafford deal which is now into the final 18 months.
But Wenger said: "Nani? No. We don't look at any player from United because players are under contract and I don't think they would sell a player during the course of the season. They don't need money."
