Arsenal are leading the race to sign midfielder Sami Khedira, who is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer.
Reports suggest the Gunners lead Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United in the battle to sign the Germany international.
Real are closing in on Khedira's international team-mate Toni Kroos and as such they are prepared to cash in on the 26-year-old.
It has now been reported in Spain that Arsenal have lodged a £24million bid for Khedira and are awaiting Real's response.
Any transfer is unlikely to be completed until after Germany's World Cup campaign has come to an end, with Die Mannschaft set to take on France in the quarter-finals.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is also thought to be closing in on a deal to bring Alexis Sanchez to the Emirates from Barcelona, while Schalke's Netherlands international striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has also emerged as a potential target.
