Arsenal are reported to be closing in on a £14million swoop for Bayern Munich midfielder Gustavo, but nothing is "concrete".
Arsene Wenger has his largest transfer kitty to date but has yet to splash the cash as Liverpool refuse to sell Luis Suarez, which has put the rest of his plans on hold.
However, Wenger is now ready to kick on with the rest of his transfer plans, while holding out hope that a deal for Suarez could still happen, and Gustavo could arrive this week.
The midfielder has confirmed there is strong interest from Arsenal and Wenger has also hinted that a move is in the pipeline.
"There is nothing concrete yet," he revealed when quized about Gustavo.
"We hope to play 55 games this season. We are a little bit thin squad-wise. But I am an optimist. This is the first time for many years that we have kept all our important players at the club."
