Gunners could lose Adebayor

ArsenalArsenal could run the risk of losing Emmanuel Adebayor after baulking at the striker's demands for a huge pay rise.

The Gunners have been locked in talks with Adebayor's advisors about a new deal amid interest from several Italian clubs, but reports claim that the player wants £80,000 a week extra.

AC Milan are known to be keen on signing the 24-year-old, who was in red-hot form for the Gunners last season, and Arsene Wenger is keen to get him tied down to a new deal.

Milan are ready to match the Gunners' £25million valuation and although Adebayor seems happy at the Emirates, his plans could change if Arsenal do not offer him a massive pay rise before the transfer window closes in August.

Robin Van Persie has already revealed that Arsenal could lose some of their top players unless they break the bank and feels they must scrap their salary limit.

"Arsenal won't pay enormous amounts but should go to a higher level," added Van Persie. "If a player can earn four times as much at another club, I can understand why he'd go elsewhere."
