Gunners linked with Benteke raid

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been linked with a summer move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

Benteke joined Villa in a £7million deal from Belgian side Genk in the summer and has impressed in his debut season in the Premier League with 15 goals in 28 appearances to date.

The striker's agent has already suggested Benteke could seek to leave Villa in the summer, regardless of whether or not they are relegated, and Arsenal have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old.

Wenger tried to sign Barcelona forward David Villa in January and is keen to strengthen his attacking options in the summer, although a move for Villa seems unlikely due to the Spanish club's reluctance to sell and Benteke could be a more viable option.

Arsenal could face competition for Benteke's services as Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been credited with an interest.
