Arsenal have been linked with a move for Lille's former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou, who is available for just £2.5million.
The Ivory Coast international has a £2.5m release clause in his contract with the French side and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be considering a January move as he seeks additional options in attack.
Kalou was linked with a return to the Premier League in the summer as West Brom were keen but the 28-year-old instead decided to remain with Lille.
However, the chance to join a club involved in the Champions League may be too much for Kalou to resist although the Gunners could well face competition for his services.
Italian league leaders Roma, who are managed by Kalou's former Lille boss Rudi Garcia, have also been tipped to make a move for the forward in January.
Roma cannot offer Kalou Champions League football this term but are on course to qualify for next season's competition.
