Gunners midfielder move rebuffed

Roma have rejected an approach from Arsenal for midfield star Alessandro Florenzi, according to reports in Italy.

The 23-year-old is attracting plenty of interest following an impressive season in Serie A and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to bring him to Emirates Stadium.

Wenger is looking to bolster his midfield as Mikel Arteta looks to be heading for the exit door, but he does not want to break the bank and Florenzi could fall into his price range.

However, reports in Italy claim that Wenger's initial move for the player has been knocked back by Roma, who will do all they can to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico.

Whether a firm offer was made remains to be seen but Wenger could face a struggle to lure the player away from the Italian outfit.
