Arsenal target Yann M'Vila has asked to leave French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes in this transfer window, the club have confirmed.

The highly-rated France midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League in the past and it now seems he is pushing to get the green light from Rennes to depart.

M'Vila has stated that he wants a new challenge and bids have already come in from potential suitors, with the Gunners, Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers and Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg all thought to be interested.

Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi admitted they could let M'Vila leave but the deal would have to suit all parties involved.

"Yes, he feels like leaving," he told Maxifoot.

"But it is not a priority for us to sell. If he has to leave, he will leave. But if it is not worth it for him or for us, he will stay until the end of the season.

"It is all moving towards England or Russia."

Arsenal have been tracking M'Vila since the summer and are thought to be in the box seat to do a deal.
