Arsenal are keeping tabs on Fernando Llorente's situation at Athletic Bilbao with a view to making a move in the January window.

Llorente is due to fall out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree a new deal which has fuelled rumours Athletic could look to cash in before they lose him for nothing.

The Spanish newspaper Marca are claiming that Arsene Wenger has asked to be kept in touch with any developments and will make a move should the striker head for the exit door.

The 27-year-old bagged 29 goals for Athletic last season but has been frozen out in the early part of this campaign after he refused to sign a new deal.

Olivier Giroud grabbed his first Arsenal goal against West Ham last time out but there is a huge question mark over whether he will be able to fill the boots of Robin van Persie and Wenger is looking at other options, one of which is Llorente.
