Arsenal target Cristian Zapata's agent has said his client is desperate for a move away from Udinese and to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old centre-half has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium since last summer as the Gunners look to strengthen their back line.

Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is a big admirer of the Colombian international and with Arsenal short of options in the centre of defence a move has been mooted this summer.

Zapata's agent Massimo Italiani has now given the Gunners some encouragement that he could be moving to north London soon by revealing his desire to head to England.

"I don't know what will happen this summer, it's still unclear. There are a number of clubs that are interested in the player. At the moment it is more likely that he will move abroad than sign for another Serie A club," Italiani told Sport.co.uk

"A move to play in England would be a dream for Cristian (Zapata), he wants to play in the Premier League."

The Gunners have been linked with a whole host of centre-halfs with Per Mertesacker, Serdar Tasci, Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill all supposedly in line to join the club.
