Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly plotting a January move for out of favour Juventus striker Alessandro Matri.

The forward has fallen down the pecking order at the Old Lady and the Italian giants are ready to cash in on the 28-year-old in the New Year.

Matri has managed just six Serie A appearances this season but the Italy international has still attracted the interest of Arsenal, according to talkSPORT.

It has been suggested that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will try and secure the former Cagliari forward, who has managed 29 goals in 62 Serie A appearances to date for Juve, for a fee in the region of 8.5million euros.

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Matri in the past, but it would seem as if the Gunners are in pole position to capture the Juve frontman.

Any move for the forward could depend on whether the Gunners can offload Marouane Chamakh, who has been tipped to join Fenerbahce.
