Arsenal are being linked with a swoop to sign Yoann Gourcuff who has turned down a new deal with Lyon and is targeting a move.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is under pressure to sign players before the transfer window closes following Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa and Gourcuff has emerged as a target.
The 27-year-old is starting to rediscover the kind of form that convinced Lyon to pay Bordeaux 22million euros for him back in 2010 and his displays have not gone unnoticed by Wenger.
Midfield is an area that Wenger wants to strengthen and he claims everything possible is being done to bring in the quality players he needs.
There is plenty of interest in Gourcuff though as Rennes and Lorient could offer him the chance to stay in France, Valencia want him in Spain, while Liverpool are an alternative to the Gunners if he wants to play in England.
