Arsenal will check on the fitness of Laurent Koscielny who was forced to pull out of the Aston Villa win with a knee injury.

The defender was struggling with his knee during the warm up and Wenger says he was forced to change his plans after it became clear the player would not be able to start the game.

Johan Djourou was drafted into the defence at the last minute and Wenger says they will now check on the player's fitness this week and pray that it is nothing serious.

"He tried in the warm-up, but could not play," Wenger told reporters after the game. "He came to see me and said he was not sure that he could play with that pain.

"Straight away after the first run he said he could not even move. How bad it is we have to assess that."

Meanwhile, Wenger was delighted with his side's display in the 3-0 victory as goals from Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Mikel Arteta wrapped up the win for the Gunners.

"I felt it was a very dynamic, fluent performance in the first half with top technical quality," Wenger added. "It was a controlled performance in the second half, but our fatigue came in a bit because we gave a lot at Everton on Wednesday night.

"We have consistency at the moment, so let's go home and wait for the next game."
