Gunners wait on key duo

Last Updated: Mon, 04 Nov 2013 07:01

Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs after they both picked up knocks against Liverpool.

Gibbs pulled up with a calf strain during Saturday's 2-0 win over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium and looks to be Wenger's biggest concern, while Wilshere missed the game altogether with an ankle niggle.

The duo are now doubts for the Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund in midweek but Wenger says it is too early to say exactly how long they will be out for.

"Honestly, it's too early to say. Gibbs looks muscular - that's not good news," Wenger said. "It is a calf problem, I don't know how bad it is.

"Jack had a little ankle inflammation and maybe he will be better. We have to wait until Monday. It is not long-term."

The Gunners take on Dortmund in Germany on Wednesday and Wenger will be hoping to have Wilshere back but will not take any risks on the England international.
