Arsenal have missed out on the signing of Gonzalo Higuain as the striker has passed a medical with Napoli ahead of a £35million move.
The Gunners have been pursuing the Real Madrid striker throughout the summer but have been unable to wrap up a deal and the Argentina international is now heading to Napoli.
At one point it was suggested that Arsenal and Real were close to agreeing a fee of £25million but those reports seem to be wide of the mark as Napoli are paying 40million euro (£34.5million) for the 25-year-old.
The player is set to pen a five-year deal and president Aurelio De Laurentiis took to twitter to confirm both Higuain and Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina are in the bag.
"Higuain and Reina have passed their medicals and will soon join the rest of the group," he tweeted. "On Monday there will be a big party at the San Paolo. You will be able to get to know the new players and the new shirts."
Arsenal look to be focusing all their attention on Liverpool striker Luis Suarez but are not having much luck there either as the Reds have rejected their latest offer of £40million.
