Midfield ace snubs Gunners move

ArsenalSporting Lisbon star Miguel Veloso has ruled out a move to Arsenal after pledging his future to the Portuguese club.

The Gunners were strongly linked with a move for Veloso in the summer as they attempted to replace Mathieu Flamini and Alex Hleb, but a move failed to materialise.

Veloso has now confirmed he saw a move to England collapse and, although he is refusing to say it was Arsenal who tried to sign him, the Gunners are thought to be the club.

The 22-year-old now insists he is happy with Sporting and has no intention of leaving in the next five years.

"I signed a contract until 2013 and I would like to fulfil it until the end," Veloso revealed. "Any player or human being would wish to evolve and to make the jump - anyone who says otherwise is lying.

"I know that I am at a great club and that I must be thankful to Sporting. It's true that I had a chance to escape to England in the summer but we could not close a deal.

"From now, I will always give my everything to Sporting."
