Gareth Barry's future is on hold until the summer when Arsenal are expected to battle with Everton for his signature.
The 32-year-old is on a season-long loan at Everton and is expected to leave City in the summer when he is out of contract.
The Gunners have also been linked with the England international but Everton boss Roberto Martinez will also hope to make the loan arrangement permanent.
However, any talks over the midfielder's future will be put on hold until the summer.
"I still think he is the best English player in his position," said Martinez.
"There will be other options, something I will always be aware of. He is in a position where he can choose where his football happiness is going to be."
Barry has impressed for the Merseysiders so far this term and has even been talked about as a possibility for England's World Cup squad.
Martinez added: "The only thing he is focused on now is playing every game and playing as well as he can," said Martinez. "It is a joy to have him here."
