Nasri near to done deal

Samir Nasri will officially become an Arsenal player in the next "few days", Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has confirmed.

The Gunners have led the chase to sign the talented playmaker and it was thought France's premature exit from Euro 2008 would speed up proceedings.

A statement on Nasri's official website confirmed he was due to arrive at the Emirates Stadium on June 23 but this was swiftly withdrawn by Marseille.

Now, the transfer saga appears to be coming to an end and Diouf hopes to make an official announcement shortly.

"The documents need to be fulfilled," Diouf told a press conference. "A few days are still needed."
