New boy in line for debut

Arsenal look set to hand a debut to new signing Nacho Monreal against Stoke tomorrow as Kieran Gibbs misses out with a thigh injury.

The Spanish full-back was snapped up on deadline day and is in line to go straight in against the Potters as Gibbs faces three weeks on the sidelines with an injury he picked up against Liverpool.

Andre Santos replaced him in midweek but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is likely to go with Monreal instead after paying Malaga £8.5million for his services.

Elsewhere, Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta are closing in on returns from hamstring and calf injuries respectively but the game may have come a touch too soon for them.
