Arsenal defender Andre Santos will officially complete his loan move to Brazilian side Gremio once he has passed a medical.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Fenerbahce for £6.8million in August 2011, has slipped down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and boss Arsene Wenger is happy to move him on.

England left-back Kieran Gibbs has been keeping Santos out of the side and his chances of playing look even more slim following the deadline day arrival of Spaniard Nacho Monreal.

Santos arrived in Brazil over the weekend to complete the formalities of the deal and Gunners striker Lukas Podolski is sad to see him return to his homeland.

The German tweeted: "@Andre-santos27 We will miss you man, I wish u all the very best #Gunner God bless you".
