Tottenham are targeting a move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke and will battle with Arsenal for his signature, reports claim.
Benteke has been a revelation for Villa since signing from Genk in a £7million deal last summer and they face a battle to keep hold of him when the transfer window opens.
The Belgium star has fired home 20 goals in all competitions and with proven Premier League goalscorers a rare commodity, the north London rivals are both keen to do a deal.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has doubts over the futures of Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe and is looking at alternatives, while it is well known that Gunners chief Arsene Wenger has put a new striker at the top of his wanted list.
Villa will be in a good position to keep hold of him after seemingly fighting off relegation and will demand a fee in the region of £20million if they are to consider cashing in.
