Theo Walcott says Arsenal are buzzing and has warned Tottenham they are gunning to leapfrog them into third place.

The Gunners recorded their fifth straight victory when defeating Newcastle 2-1 on Monday night and the win leaves them just one point behind their arch rivals.

It has been an up and down season for Arsenal but Walcott says they have hit form just at the right time and believes they can finish the season strongly to take third place.

Arsenal left it late as Thomas Vermaelen fired home a Walcott cross five minutes into stoppage time and the winger says that confidence is high in the dressing room.

"Tottenham have got to be watching over their shoulders now," Walcott told Sky Sports. "With the squad of players we've got - and we've got a lot of players coming back to fitness now - we believe that we can go much further.

"It's been an up and down season, but it's the way you finish, and that's the most important thing."
