Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed he has been impressed by the club's ambition during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are in hot pursuit of want-away Liverpool frontman Luis Suarez, lodging a bid of £40million plus £1 earlier in the week to meet the price needed for talks to be opened with the Uruguay international.
Giroud has backed Arsene Wenger's decision to break from traditional and splash some cash to try and compete with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The French striker joined the club last summer from Ligue 1 side Montpellier and despite struggling to hit the highs in his first campaign, he has been in terrific form during the pre-season tour after netting six goals in three games.
Giroud said: "We need to show ambition and the offer for Suarez has done that. The club has to show the fans that we mean business. Me and my team-mates need it as well. It will be a really positive thing if we have a new striker.
"The whole team is stronger now than it was a year ago. Last season's new players are all more established. And we've lost nobody this summer, which is the first time for Arsenal in maybe four years."
