Szczesny eyes second place

Wojciech Szczesny believes Arsenal could yet catch Manchester City in the Premier League this season and even finish second.

Arsene Wenger's side deservedly beat City on Sunday thanks to Mikel Arteta's late strike and they now sit 10 points behind City with six games to go.

It would be a big ask for the Londoners to overhaul that deficit but Szczesny insists their good form can continue right up until to the end of the season and he is not giving up on finishing second in the table.

He told Arsenal's official website: "I believe we will finish third. Man City have lost their chance of the title - it was a big blow to us last year and they might drop a little bit, so who knows maybe we can catch them as well.

"Our aim is to win every game and if we do that we will be in the Champions League next year."

Szczesny says the win on Sunday was fully deserved as the Gunners kept up their impressive form in 2012.

He added: "I thought we deserved to win from start to finish. Joe Hart made some good saves, we were unlucky at times but I'm sure even the Man City players would admit we deserved to win."
