Arsenal look set to miss out on Brazil midfielder Bernard after international team-mate Hulk urged him to sign for Porto.
The Gunners are believed to be ready to make a move for the 20-year-old, who was part of the Atletico Mineiro side that won the Copa Libertadores for the first time earlier this year.
He was also part of Brazil's Confederations Cup-winning squad and is seen as one of the country's rising stars ahead of next year's World Cup.
Bernard's father, Delio Duarte, has confirmed Arsenal are interested in the player, who is valued in the region of £22million.
However, he also revealed that Brazil team-mate Hulk has advised the youngster to sign for one of his former clubs Porto as it would be more beneficial for his career.
"Nothing is decided yet but we know there is interest from Arsenal," Duarte told O Jogo. "However, there has been nothing official from them.
"Hulk has convinced Bernard that Porto would be better for him at this stage of his career.
"Porto would be a better move for his career. It would be a dream of mine to see him playing for them."
