Top target snubs Gunners move

ArsenalSwitzerland international Gohkan Inler has rejected the opportunity to sign for Arsenal to stay with Italian side Udinese.

Inler has been linked with a move to the Emirates for the majority of the summer, but his agent Dino Lambrini has now confirmed that the 24-year-old has turned down the chance of a move to England.

"We have decided that Inler remains in Udinese," said Lambrini.

"Any player would want to play for Arsenal of course, but for Inler this may be perhaps a little early. Maybe a season too early."

Arsenal have been searching for a central midfielder following the departures of Gilberto Silva and Mathieu Flamini during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners will now be forced to look elsewhere following Inler's snub, with Aston Villa's Gareth Barry and Liverpool's Xabi Alonso still possible transfer targets.
