Theo Walcott looks set to commit his future to Arsenal by signing a new three-year deal, reports have claimed.

The winger has just under 12 months left to run on his current deal and rumours have been rife he could leave the Emirates Stadium with Chelsea and Liverpool among the clubs thought to be keen.

However boss Arsene Wenger has always remained confident that the winger will sign, while Walcott himself would prefer to stay with the Gunners if a deal can be hammered out.

Walcott refused to be drawn on the rumours that he is ready to commit his future to the Gunners and says he is just focused on keeping his place in the first team.

"I have to play the waiting game for now. I just want to get back in the team and show people what I can do," he said.

Walcott is keen to play as an out-and-out striker and it looks as though he has been given assurances by Wenger that he will get his chance somewhere down the line.
