Arsenal are set to have another go at signing Brazil under-20 international Diogo despite having two bids turned down.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may have to pay out around £17million if he wants to tempt Sao Paulo based outfit Portuguesa into selling the youngster.

The club rate him as highly as Alexandre Pato who joined AC Milan for the same price last summer and Wenger will have to spend big if he wants to land the youngster.

Diogo scored 18 goals in the Brazilian Championship last season and is rated among the best prospects in the country.

The 20 year-old, who has been pencilled in to partner Pato at this summer's Olympic football tournament, says that it would be a dream to move to Europe and The Gunners have been watching him for two years.

Wenger is even making plans to loan him out to a Spanish side to get a European passport as he has done with Carlos Vela.
