Boss Martin Jol has revealed that he would still turn up for Tottenham's games even if the board decided to sack him this season.
The Dutch tactician's future at White Hart Lane has been shrouded in doubt this season as Spurs have made a disappointing start with just four points from a possible 15 on offer and they sit 14th in the table. The North Londoners were backed to challenge for a top-four Champions League spot and the White Hart Lane board and chairman Daniel Levy are thought to be very unhappy with the way things are going.
However Jol has made a startling admission that he would continue to watch Spurs even if he were no longer in employment at the club.
He told the Daily Mail: "I told the chairman that if I'm not sitting in the dug-out I will be sitting in the stands as a fan. He won't get rid of me that easily."
Meanwhile Jol has hit out at the latest international break as he feels it will take his players longer to reach their peak form in the Premiership due to the interruption.
"We had the first six weeks with pre-season and in the second six you want to overload your players to make them fitter and fitter.
"Last year it certainly came off because we could peak all the time, but if they are gone for over a week it makes it much more difficult. You must hope for the best that they all come back without any injuries."
He added: "Any manager will tell you that they don't like it - and I certainly feel that way. You don't see your players and they could get injured.
"They all want to play for their countries, I understand that and I would never stand in their way. On the other hand, sometimes the breaks can be a pain and affect your planning."
