Michael Ballack is disappointed to be left out of Chelsea's Champions League squad and has hinted he could leave when he is back fit.

The German international is struggling with an ankle injury and the Blues decided to leave him out of the squad as they felt he would not be fit enough to play any part in the group stages.

Reports have even suggested that Chelsea left him out because he was targeting a move to Real Madrid. Whatever the reason, Ballack is not happy and has hinted that his future could lie elsewhere.

"I am disappointed," Ballack said of the situation. "But I have to accept it and focus on getting healthy again. Then I can make up my mind about other things."

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old says he is unable to put a date on his long-awaited return. "It has got better - but it is not like I could play again or train with the team," he added. " I can't give a prognosis."
