Wigan midfielder Josip Skoko is being linked with a £1m switch to Sheffield United in the January transfer window.
The Aussie star only re-signed for Latics in the summer but Blades chief Bryan Robson is desperate to add Premiership quality to his side having failed to land Bolton's Stelios and Celtic's Thomas Gravesen, among others, during the summer.
Meanwhile, Skoko, who has made just one Premiership start this season, admits the squad was left "disappointed" by the last-gasp defeat at Reading on Saturday.
"We're all very disappointed" Josip told the club's website.
"We thought we deserved more there, we created a lot of chances and played very well but we conceded a couple of cheap goals and no points."
