Tottenham are ready to launch a bid to land Real Madrid winger Robinho after announcing record profits earlier in the week.

Spurs boss Martin Jol is keen on the Brazilian star and a swoop could be on the cards after the Spanish giants hinted they might be prepared to sell the player in the January transfer window.

Robinho joined Real from Santos in 2005 and helped them to the La Liga title last season when breaking Barcelona's stranglehold, but they need to fund signings of their own and have to sell players first.

The 23 year-old is one of the players who could be offloaded, but Spurs would face plenty of competition for his services with Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan also interested in him.

The signing would be a massive coup for the club but they will have to be back pushing in and around the top four if Robinho is to even consider a move to White Hart Lane.
