Chelsea are hot on the heals of Portuguese starlet Joao Moutinho, but face strong competition from a number of Premiership clubs.

Moutinho, who at 21 is the youngest ever captain of Sporting Lisbon, has been watched regularly by Chelsea scouts and a January offer could be in the pipeline.

The attacking midfielder is very highly rated by Sporting Lisbon, who believe that he could go on to be worth £30million. He has been a regular in the Portugal team for the last year and has been likened to Benfica super star Rui Costa.

Manchester United and City, Liverpool, Spurs, Portsmouth and Arsenal have all taken a look at him and it looks as though a battle is on for the youngster's signature.
