Forgotten man Josip Skoko could come back in from the cold when Wigan travel to take on Portsmouth on Saturday.

The 32-year-old has been used fleetingly by manager Steve Bruce but could get his big chance because suspension has ruled out midfield trio Wilson Palacios, Michael Brown and Jason Koumas for the trip to Fratton Park.

Skoko has not started a Premier League game since the 4-0 hammering at Tottenham on November 11 when caretaker boss Frank Barlow was in charge.

The Australian appeared as a last-minute substitute against Arsenal a fortnight later, with his only appearance since coming on in the FA Cup victory over Sunderland in January.

However, Bruce could reshuffle Ryan Taylor and Salomon Olembe, while Paul Scharner could also be moved forward from defence.
