Steve Coppell's position as Reading manager has never been in doubt, according to Reading chairman John Madejski.
The Royals supremo says he never for one minute thought about changing his manager even with the club sliding towards the drop zone in a run of eight consecutive defeats.
His faith in the boss appears to have paid dividends in March as a run of three wins out of four matches, the only defeat coming at Liverpool, has left the side in safer waters five points clear of the drop zone.
Madejski told the Mirror: "Even when we went through that glitch of eight league defeats on the spin, nobody ever questioned Steve's ability as a manager.
"It would have been complete lunacy to even consider changing the manager. Changing managers is not necessarily the answer to anything.
"You've got to stick with him. It's not as if we were losing by a mile the whole time. It was just the odd goal here and there.
"I was totally happy with the manager and, hopefully, we've been proved right, which is great."
