Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan is reportedly targeting a summer swoop for Tottenham's central defender Michael Dawson.
The 24-year-old former Nottingham Forest starlet has dropped down Spurs boss Juande Ramos' pecking order this season following the January transfer window arrival of Jonathan Woodgate from Middlesbrough and the return to fitness of skipper Ledley King.
Ramos is also reportedly looking at bringing in Espanyol stopper Daniel Jarque in the summer which would see Dawson's first-team opportunities further limited. Therefore it is claimed that the player will request a transfer from White Hart Lane in order to find a club which can guarantee him regular action.
Magpies boss Keegan, who is planning a complete overhaul of his squad at St James' Park in the summer should they avoid relegation from the Premier League, is said to be leading the queue to sign Dawson should he be made available.
Meanwhile Belgian side Standard Liege have revealed that Tottenham are interested in signing £10million-rated 20-year-old midfielder Marouane Fellaini. They also claim Premier League rivals Everton have had a £6million bid turned down, while German giants Bayern Munich are also looking at the player.
