West Ham are being linked with a summer swoop for Colchester keeper Dean Gerken in a deal said to be worth £500,000.
Despite a difficult season for the U's Gerken has been a ray of light and his performances have not gone unnoticed at the club as he is now being linked with a move to the Hammers.
It is being reported that he has a clause in his deal at Layer Road which would allow him to move on if someone came in with a £500,000 offer for the player.
Colchester look doomed to the drop into League One but whether that would lead to them selling off any of their players remains to be seen and their boss Geraint Williams says he knows nothing of any interest from West Ham.
Gerken, who is on a long term contract at the club, was named the U's young-player-of-the-season last term and has played all but six of this season's fixtures.
