West Brom boss Tony Mowbray says they situation regarding Zoltan Gera's contract will work in the club's favour.
The Hungary international is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree a new deal at the club but his agent says he wants to stay if the Baggies win promotion.
Mowbray believes that will work in the club's favour, and he told the expressandstar: "It can only be positive because he has to perform. If he performs to a very high standard, it's positive for Zoltan and for us.
"If some huge club wants to come in and pay him huge money because he's an excellent player, then good luck to Zoltan.
"The only way he's going to get that move - if that's what his heart desires - is by playing top quality football, which benefits us.
"If we get promoted, and he decides his best option is to stay here, then we'll benefit from that as well. But at the moment, we'll benefit from a player who is striving to be at his best every week, whether it's to get us out of this league or whether it's for his own future."
