Aston Villa have confirmed Scott Carson should be fit to face Manchester United this weekend despite a knee injury.
The goalkeeper was forced to pull out of the England squad that takes on France tonight after picking up the knock and it was feared he would miss the big game against the Reds.
However, it now appears he was withdrawn from the squad as a precaution and he should be fit. Scans on the problem have revealed no serious damage, much to the relief of Martin O'Neill.
A club spokesman said: "We didn't think it was anything serious but, after consultation between our own medical team and England's, it was decided a week away with the international squad may have aggravated the problem."
