Mark Hughes says Ryan Nelsen is over his hamstring problems and will be available for Blackburn's run in.

The New Zealand international has been missing for the last two months because of a persistent hamstring injury, but it looks as though the player is now as fit as he can be.

Nelsen is closing in on his return to the first team and Hughes is delighted to have him back.

"We hope he can draw a line under it," Hughes revealed. "Ryan will have to come to terms with it on occasions. He will have a bit of discomfort. When he comes back, we all expect his form to be very good because he's fit and well now."

The defender attempted to play through the pain at one point only to break down and Hughes added: "He's such a genuine guy. In his own mind, he wanted to make sure he was helping the side but in the end, the injury was compromising him too much.

"But he understands that now, when you have really significant injuries, there's always a price to pay."
