Sunderland will battle it out with Bolton for the services of Blackburn striker Jason Roberts in the summer.

Any deal will hinge on what division the Black Cats and Bolton find themselves in next season. Roberts admits he does not know what the future holds for him but he would want to stay in the Premiership, so whoever stays up will be in the box seat to land him.

"I think everyone is happier when they are playing. I'm sure if you spoke to anyone here they would all say the same," Roberts told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. "As for where my future lies, I don't know."
