Fulham defender Aaron Hughes insists he is fully committed to the Cottagers' cause following reports he wanted to quit the club.

The Northern Ireland international was signed from Aston Villa by former boss Lawrie Sanchez last summer and has been a first-team regular during the difficult campaign to date.

However, Hughes has every intention of honouring his deal and told the club's website: "Whilst I am disappointed by our current league position, I am enjoying being at Fulham and hope to be playing Premier League football at Craven Cottage next season.

"We are fighting together as a team to secure the club's future and whilst my team mates are well aware of my commitment to the club, I felt it necessary to reassure the fans following today's inaccurate speculation surrounding my future.

"It's vital that the players, staff and supporters stick together at this stage of the season. We have a massive game against Derby on Saturday and I can guarantee that I will be giving 100 per cent to the club's cause, as I always do."
