Chelsea are sweating over the fitness of John Terry after the defender picked up a slight hamstring injury playing for England.

Terry, who was stripped of the England captaincy for the game against France on Wednesday night, played the first 45 minutes but did not return after the half-time interval.

It has since been revealed that Terry picked up a slight hamstring strain and was taken off as a precaution. Blues boss Avram Grant will no doubt be delighted that the influential defender was taken off but will still have concerns over whether he will be fit enough to face Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge this Sunday.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard pulled out of the game through illness but it is hoped he will be fit to return as the Blues look to keep the pressure on Manchester United at the top of the Premiership.
