Wigan will complete a permanent deal for Charlton striker Marcus Bent - if they avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Bent arrived from Charlton last summer on a season-long loan but survival will trigger a clause, according to boss Steve Bruce.
"There is an agreement with Charlton that if we stay up we take him," confirmed the JJB chief.
Latics' recent good form has seen them climb up to 14th place in the table but they are only five points clear of the drop zone.
Bent has scored seven league goals so far this term.
