Mathieu Flamini says he is locked in talks with Arsenal and hopes to pen a new deal despite interest from Juventus.

The French midfielder is due to fall out of contract in the summer but so far he has been unable to agree a new deal and that has kicked off speculation he could move on.

Reports in Italy have gone as far as suggesting that the player has already held talks with Juventus, but those rumours appear to be well off the mark as Flamini wants to stay.

Flamini will no doubt have a queue of clubs waiting in the wings should he decide to move on in the summer, but the player says the Gunners are his number one choice.

"I am talking with the club and we'll see what happens," the Frenchman told the Daily Mirror. "But I hope to stay at Arsenal."
