Wigan star Trent Barrett is pondering his future and may ask the club to release him from his contract for family reasons.

The stand off's agent Wayne Beavis claims the Australian plans to meet Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan to discuss his future.

"It is for family reasons that Trent might be looking at coming home," Beavis told the Wigan Observer.

"I've spoken to the Wigan management and told them Trent has got a family issue and was planning to come to them to discuss it."

The 30-year-old was signed from St George-Illawarra Dragons in 2006 and is less than halfway through a three-year deal at the JJB Stadium.

The Dragons are reportedly one of three NRL clubs chasing his signature with Canterbury Bulldogs and Canberra Raiders also interested.

Beavis added: "I've had a couple of NRL clubs ring me to say they're interested if Trent does become available.

"I'm not going to enter into any discussions with them unless he asks for a release and is granted one."
